Later updates confirmed that he was en route to a local hospital via ambulance. Luckily, he was conscious during the ride.
Saint John Sea Dogs head coach Travis Crickard was conscious and en route to hospital after collapsing behind the bench in tonight's QMJHL game in Cape Breton. The game was called a final with 19:06 remaining in the 3rd period with Cape Breton leading 6-0.
In the meantime, the officials decided to call the game early. As Cape Breton has a 6-0 lead, the outcome of the game seemed certain anyways and the health of Crickard is more important than the outcome anyways.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Crickard, his family, and the Sea Dogs organization as they deal with this adversity. We hope that Travis will be okay and make a full recovery.
