Klingberg's Injury Could Be Career-Ending
John Klingberg, who the Leafs signed to a one-year, 4 million dollar contract this offseason, travelled with the team to Sweden but did not participate in either game. The 31-year old defender has reportedly been dealing with a flare up of a reoccurring injury that he's dealt with throughout his career. Apparently, this particular flare up may even be the one to end his time in the NHL.
Klingberg reportedly gave an emotional answer at a media scrum in Stockholm implying that he might not be able to play in the NHL again due to the injury.
CJ on the Leaf Report says, in Stockholm, Klingberg "gave an emotional scrum" about how "he so badly wants to play again" and adds "I don't know if he's going to be able to." Man... what happened
Toronto Maple Leafs To Update Us On Klingberg's Injury Status
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reported this morning that we will likely get an update on Klingberg's status sometime this week.
Elliotte Friedman on TJMS re. Klingberg injury: «I think there was going to be a conversation about where are we going here? I would expect some clarity, whether it's a temporary absence or a longer one, I think we're gonna get some clarity on that soon.»
Klingberg has played just 14 games with the Leafs. The Swedish blueliner has played in 633 games in his NHL career. He has 81 goals and 412 points to show for his efforts.
