The Anaheim Ducks have one of the NHL's brightest and most marketable young stars on their hands in the form of Trevor Zegras, but they seemingly have no intentions of keeping him.
An embarrassing offer

According to NHL Insider Renaud Lavoie, the team's latest offer for Zegras is between the $3M and $4M range, a long way from what many expected the number to look.

Given the attention he brings to a success-starved Ducks team, many expected him to be getting a deal closer to the $7M per year deal given to Troy Terry earlier in the summer, and now, they risk losing their young star after this offer.
A potential superstar
Despite being just 22-years of age, Zegras has three solid seasons in the NHL under his belt, with his 2022-23 campaign being his most consistent, as he tallied 23 goals and 65 points in 81 games, and as he grows and learns, he'll continue improving in a big way.
With teams like the Buffalo Sabres reportedly interested in Zegras, the Ducks will have to do much better if they want No. 11 to stick around, even if it's on a bridge deal, but right now, that won't get it done, so this situation could get interesting in the coming weeks.
