The team announced this morning that 17 players have been reassigned to the Providence Bruins in the AHL. Among them was goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo, who signed a tryout deal with the Bruins this summer but was released from it and sent to Providence. Forward Marc McLaughlin was also placed on waivers with the intention of sending him to the AHL.
The official statement read:
While most of these moves were expected, lots of fans are watching Kaskisuo closely as Jeremy Swayman remains unsigned, causing concern for the Bruins' goalie situation. But the biggest surprise has been the decision to send down Lysell. The 21 year old had two strong pre-season performances that seemed to show he was ready for a spot on the roster. However the team thinks otherwise which is leaving many fans frustrated.
Lysell, drafted 21st overall in 2021, had an impressive AHL season last year with 50 points in 56 games. It's likely he'll get a chance to play for the Bruins this season, but whether he can earn a full-time spot remains to be seen.
