The Boston Bruins have officially released one of their top-4 defensemen to free agency.

The Bruins will lose several players this summer, including defenseman Derek Forbort, who is confirmed to be leaving the team.
It was already known that forward Milan Lucic would not be returning due to criminal charges filed by his soon-to-be ex-wife Brittany. Now, it's confirmed that former 15th overall pick Derek Forbort will not be getting an extension with the Bruins.
Forbort played three seasons in Boston, transitioning from a key lineup player to a #6/#7 defenseman, playing just over 30 games in the 2023-24 season. He will likely join a team in need of experienced players.
Per @TheFourthPeriod
, Derek Forbort will test free agency on July 1 and will not return to the #NHLBruins
