Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney confirmed on Wednesday that restricted free-agent goalie Jeremy Swayman will not attend training camp until he signs a new contract.
Sweeney expressed disappointment that Swayman, 25, won't be with his teammates but remains hopeful that a deal will be reached before the Dec. 1 deadline for restricted free agents.
Swayman, drafted 111th overall in 2017, was expected to become the Bruins' main goalie after the offseason trade of Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators. Last season, Swayman played in 44 games, posting a 25-10-8 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. He was also an All-Star in 2024 and shared the William M. Jennings Trophy with Ullmark in 2023 for allowing the fewest goals during the season.
As camp opens, the Bruins' goaltending options include Joonas Korpisalo (acquired in the Ullmark trade), Brandon Bussi, and Michael DiPietro.
