The Boston Bruins and goaltender Jeremy Swayman are at a standstill on a new contract, and reports suggest they might not be able to sign him.
With Linus Ullmark traded, it seems the Bruins would have Jeremy Swayman as their starting goalie for next year, but he remains without a contract.
Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe reports that the Bruins currently don't have the cap space to sign their number one goaltender. This poses a major issue for the team.
Kevin Paul DuPont of the Boston Globe suggests that while the Boston Bruins have $8.6 million in cap space, they still may have to make a trade to free up a bit more room in order to sign goaltender Jeremy Swayman.
His next contract, depending on term, is expected to come in north of $9M AAV.
Swayman, 25, played in 44 regular season games for the Bruins last season, with a record of 25-10-8, three shutouts, a 2.53 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage.
If Swayman's contract is around $9 million or more, the Bruins will need to shed some salary before next season to finalize the deal.
