Jeremy Swayman breaks silence on his future with the Bruins as contract negotiations stall
Jeremy Swayman is in the midst of a heated negotiation with the Boston Bruins, and now recent comments have surfaced about his future in Boston.
After trading away Linus Ullmark this summer, many assumed that Jeremy Swayman would slot in as the Boston Bruins No. 1 goaltender and remain there for many, many years to come. That was the plan for both sides, but now the heated negotiations have gone public, with Cam Neely and Don Sweeney both discussing it in the media despite reportedly being up to $1 million apart in contract discussions.
Now, with the release of Amazon's new show Faceoff: Inside the NHL, we've got a look back at Swayman's comments from during the Stanley Cup Playoffs about being a Boston Bruin, and he made it clear that he wants to be with the team for a long time to come.
"I mean, I don't want it to end," he said on the show. "[This] could be the last time I wear a Bruins jersey. I know I'm going to do everything in my power to be a Bruin for a long time. As a kid growing up in Alaska, this was in my wildest f---ing dreams. I never want it to end. I'm just so grateful that the sun's going to rise tomorrow and there's another opportunity to get better.

Given how heated negotiations have become and what arbitration did to the 25-year old goaltender, it's tough to believe that he is this committed to the team still, especially after reportedly turning down an 8x8 deal in recent times. There is definitely still time for this relationship to be repaired, but the longer this drags on the worse it looks for both parties, so we will now see if he is this committed to being the future of the Bruins in net.
