The NHL may need to rethink its decision not to penalize Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers after new footage of his hit on Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins emerged.
During game 3 of their playoff series, Bennett's hit knocked Marchand out of the lineup for the next game. The initial video angle didn't show much, but the newly released footage clearly reveals Bennett intentionally striking Marchand in the face.
"It truly is crazy how Bennett does throw that fist/butt end into Marchand's head here. I can't believe TNT didn't pick up on this. I know it would've been headline central if roles were reversed."
This wasn't a questionable play, it was a deliberate attempt to injure Marchand. It's surprising that the NHL's Department of Player Safety didn't consider this angle when assessing Bennett's actions.

Despite opinions about Marchand or Bennett, it's evident that Bennett's move was intended to harm another player, which it did. The lack of punishment for Bennett is confusing. Marchand's availability for game 5 remains uncertain, with indications pointing towards a concussion, making his return timeline uncertain.
