The Boston Bruins, currently in second place in the NHL, are no strangers to success, having dominated the league last season. As the trade deadline approaches, they're expected to be active buyers, but GM Don Sweeney might have different plans, especially regarding their goaltending situation.
According to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Bruins seem open to trading Linus Ullmark if it means upgrading other areas of the team. Ullmark's solid performance this year comes with a 2.72 GAA and a .914 SV% which makes him a valuable trade asset especially after a standout Vezina winning season.
The potential loss of Ullmark wouldn't be too significant, considering they have the younger 25-year-old Jeremy Swayman excelling as the backup goalie. Swayman boasts impressive stats with a 2.47 GAA and a .920 SV% in 32 games.
Trading Ullmark could fetch the Bruins a significant piece at the deadline due to his perceived value. Additionally, having a younger starting-caliber goalie in Swayman makes the decision to part with Ullmark easier for the team.
