Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney recently took a jab at Ryan Whitney and the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, and the podcast fired right back.

Last Wednesday, during the first day of training camp, Sweeney gave an update on goaltender Jeremy Swayman, confirming that Swayman wouldn't report to camp until his contract situation was sorted. Sweeney expressed his disappointment but remained hopeful that a deal could be reached before the December 1st RFA deadline.
Things heated up when Sweeney addressed rumors spread by the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, co-hosted by former NHL player Paul Bissonnette. The podcast had claimed that the Bruins were ignoring Swayman's calls during contract talks. Sweeney wasn't happy with this and denied the rumors, even mocking the podcast by calling it "Spitting Up On Yourself."
The Spittin' Chiclets crew didn't let that slide. Co-host Ryan Whitney stood by his claim, saying the Bruins had made Swayman a low-ball offer and hadn't responded for weeks. The back-and-forth added more drama to the already tense contract negotiations.
With the Bruins relying on Swayman after trading Linus Ullmark, it's critical for both sides to resolve the contract issue quickly. While frustrations are understandable, it's time to shift the focus from podcast drama to finding a deal that works for both the team and the player.
