Calgary Flames Blacklist Canadian Team From Trading For Prize Defenseman

The Calgary Flames season hasn't gone the way anyone would have liked, and now, after a trade request from defenseman Nikita Zadorov, it appears they're now facing a bidding war.

Calgary won't trade Zadorov to one particular Canadian rival

After the request was made public by the veteran's agent, Zadorov was quickly linked to Vancouver, Toronto and New Jersey, but the latest report reveals that one of those teams is now out of the bidding war.

Apparenlty, the Flames may not want to send Zadorov to Vancouver (in division).

Given that the Canucks are a Pacific Division rival, it makes sense that the Flames don't ideally want to work with them on a deal, but if they offer the best package, it would be foolish of Craig Conroy to completely dismiss them. It appears as though they are also interested in Chris Tanev, so we will see how the process works out with Vancouver leading up to the trade deadline.

Nikita Zadorov could be bound for the Toronto Maple Leafs

However, there's one Canadian team that they are open to doing business with, as former Flames GM Brad Treliving is at the helm of the Maple Leafs, with both parties interested in making a deal happen.

"I know for a fact from speaking to someone close to it that the Leafs are one of four teams that have inquired about Zadorov."

At this point, Zadorov, Tanev or both seem to be on the way to Toronto, but regardless of where the 6-foot-6 defenseman ends up, it won't be Vancouver if this report is anything to go by.
