The Calgary Flames are off to a strong 4-0-0 start this season & it looks like general manager Craig Conroy is ready to make some bold moves on the trade market.
Many expected the Flames to focus continuing the rebuild this season but their undefeated start clearly have changed the front office's mind. While they likely won't win every game or even make the playoffs, the team's young talent especially Dustin Wolf, Connor Zary & Martin Pospisil has been impressive.
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Conroy has been actively searching for a young center to strengthen the team's middle-six forward group. Ideally, they're looking for a right-shooting center who fits their age profile.
"Not usually much trade activity to start a season, but I'm told Flames GM Craig Conroy has been working the phones in recent days to try and find a center to add to the Calgary Flames in their middle six, preferably someone who fits their age scheme, preferably, in a perfect world, a right shooting center."
Some possible trade targets mentioned by fans include Mavrik Bourque, Dylan Cozens, and Anton Lundell. While the Flames aren't going all in for a Cup run, they're looking for a player who could eventually replace captain Mikael Backlund on the third line. It's unclear whether Conroy will trade a key piece like Rasmus Andersson to make the deal happen, but if the right offer comes along, this move could improve the Flames' future while keeping them competitive now.
Stay tuned for more updates.
