The Carolina Hurricanes have signed veteran forwards Sam Gagner, Rocco Grimaldi, and Skyler Brind'Amour to professional tryout agreements (PTOs).

Gagner spent the 2023-24 season with the Edmonton Oilers, scoring five goals and five assists in 28 regular season games. His last goal came on January 20 against the Calgary Flames. Drafted sixth overall by the Oilers in the 2007 NHL Draft, Gagner made an impact early, recording 49 points in his rookie season. Over his career, Gagner has played for several teams, including the Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Vancouver Canucks. He has totaled 529 points (197 goals, 332 assists) in 1,043 regular season games and four assists in 11 playoff games.
Grimaldi had a standout 2023-24 season with the AHL's Chicago Wolves, finishing second in the league with 73 points (36 goals, 37 assists) in 72 games. The 31-year-old last played in the NHL with the Nashville Predators in 2021-22, recording three assists in seven games. In 203 NHL games with the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and Nashville, Grimaldi has tallied 67 points (30 goals, 37 assists).
Skyler Brind'Amour, son of Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour, played for the AHL's Charlotte Checkers in 2023-24, scoring eight points in 54 games. He was drafted 177th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2017.
