The Chicago Blackhawks were looking for a drama-free 2023-24 season, but unfortunately Corey Perry changed all of that early in the campaign.
Corey Perry can officially return to the NHL
After a solid start to the season for Chicago, GM Kyle Davidson terminated Perry's contract, revealing that he «engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation of both the terms of his standard player's contract and the Blackhawks' internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments.»
We don't know any further details on the situation, but after no one picked him up for fear of sanctions, many believed that the veterans season was officially over.
Now however, Elliotte Friedman has detailed a meeting with Gary Bettman and Perry that has now officially allowed him to return to the NHL, making him free to sign with anyone.
Only time will now tell if a contender wants to look into signing the veteran, but he's now available and could be a solid piece for any team around the league.
