The Columbus Blue Jackets, already facing a tough season, may encounter another significant setback, as confirmed by their General Manager.
The Blue Jackets' season has been largely disappointing, but Dmitiri Voronkov, a 23-year-old rookie, has been a notable exception. His transition to North American hockey has been smooth, with 3 goals and 9 points in 15 games, alongside a physical presence on the ice.
Despite Voronkov's on-ice success, reports from Russia indicate he is struggling to adapt to life in the United States and is considering a return to his home country. Jarmo Kekalainen, the General Manager of the Blue Jackets, has confirmed these reports.
Voronkov's contract includes a clause allowing him to leave before December 31, 2023, if he is still playing in the AHL. Despite this, it seems unlikely the Blue Jackets would prevent his departure if he expresses a desire to leave, adding to the challenges the team already faces this season.
