The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that their players will wear a special helmet sticker honoring Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau for the entire 2024-25 season.
Starting with the team's first preseason game on Monday, the sticker will feature "GAUDREAU" with two doves between the numbers 13 (Johnny's number) and 21 (Matthew's number from Boston College). The design is blue with gray trim and white lettering.
During the first preseason home game against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, September 25, there will be a moment of silence. The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation 50/50 Raffle will also run for all four preseason games and through the second intermission of the home opener, with proceeds going to the John and Matthew Gaudreau Foundation.
Beginning with the first regular season game on Thursday, October 10, against the Minnesota Wild, Blue Jackets players will wear a patch featuring Johnny Gaudreau's number 13 on their jerseys throughout the season.
On Tuesday, October 15, when the Blue Jackets host the Florida Panthers, the team will honor the Gaudreau brothers, and all fans in attendance will receive a "13" patch like the ones worn by the players.
