Sean Higgins, the drunk driver responsible for Johnny Gaudreau's tragic death, has spoken out following his arrest.

Last night, a devastating accident occurred when Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were struck and killed by a drunk driver while on a bike ride in New Jersey. The brothers were in town for their sister's wedding.
The driver, Sean Higgins, 43, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.
According to details from the New York Post, Higgins admitted to having five or six beers before the crash, which impaired his driving:
"The trooper who arrived at the scene detected a strong odor of alcohol' on his breath, according to the criminal complaint obtained by The Post.

Higgins allegedly told the trooper that he had five to six beers' before the fatal crash.

He also supposedly confessed that he believed the SUV was trying to block him from passing and that his drinking exacerbated his impatience and reckless driving.

Higgins failed a field sobriety test, troopers said."
In a new development, Higgins also made a comment about needing to be detained longer because of the weekend, which did not sit well with many:
It's clear that Higgins is likely to face much more than just a few days in jail. Reports suggest he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
This trial is expected to draw significant attention, so stay tuned for updates.
