Columbus Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell has expressed a major concern about the future of a potential Patrik Laine trade.
Just last week, it was announced that Patrik Laine has requested a trade from Columbus.
Laine has struggled with injuries and inconsistency during his time in Columbus, and his large cap hit makes a trade challenging, according to Waddell.
#CBJ GM Don Waddell said Patrik Laine remains in NHL/NHLPA players' assistance program, but expects docs to clear him "soon."
"Teams that have talked about (a trade), they want to talk with him if they're going to make a move."
#NHL clubs can only talk to Laine if he's cleared.

Until Laine is cleared from the NHL Player's Assistance Program, he cannot speak to other teams to facilitate a trade, making Waddell's job even harder. With the draft approaching quickly, the hope is that Laine can leave the program in time to get a trade done before the draft.
