Todd McLellan was once considered a top candidate to become the new Head Coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, but recent developments explain why that's no longer the case.
After a disappointing season, the Blue Jackets parted ways with Head Coach Pascal Vincent. Months later, the team has yet to hire a new coach. McLellan was a strong contender, but it has been revealed why he won't be taking the role.
According to a report from The Dispatch:
Refreshing this one. Told that #LAKings were willing to eat up to $2 million of McLellan's remaining $5.5 million for '24-25, leaving #CBJ to pay $3.5 million next season plus a different (unknown annual salary) for additional years
As of now, the Blue Jackets are reportedly interested in Joel Quenneville, though no official offer has been made. The search for a new coach continues, and with the team's young roster needing direction, a decision is expected soon.
