Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer provided a massive update on Chris Tanev's injury status ahead of crucial game 5 against the Edmonton Oilers.
Last night's game played out very differently for the Edmonton Oilers compared to Game 3. Instead of starting strong, they had to withstand a powerful push from the visiting Dallas Stars.
Despite the initial pressure, the Oilers regrouped and scored five unanswered goals to win the game and tie the series. Five different players scored: Ryan McLeod, Evan Bouchard, Mattias Janmark, Leon Draisaitl, and Mattias Ekholm.
The Oilers' victory came with an added bonus: one of the Stars' top defensemen might miss some time. Chris Tanev blocked a shot from Evander Kane during the second period and was seen hobbling down the tunnel to the Stars' dressing room. The puck appeared to hit his skate or ankle area, causing significant pain, especially given Tanev's history of playing through injuries.

In his post-game interview, Stars head coach Pete DeBoer didn't have a detailed update but said they are "keeping their fingers crossed" that Tanev can play in Game 5.

Losing Tanev would be a major setback for the Stars and would boost the Oilers' chances of advancing past the Western Conference Final to play for the Stanley Cup.
