Corey Perry, after a challenging season that led to a contract termination in Chicago, has chosen to join the Edmonton Oilers despite offers from the Rangers, Wild, and Lightning.
The Oilers and the 38-year-old forward agreed to a one-year contract with an average annual value of $775,000, along with performance bonuses.
Perry, a veteran with an impressive NHL career, explained his decision to sign with the Oilers in a recent interview. He mentioned that his 6-year-old kid is a fan of Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, influencing his choice.
The deal makes Perry the first player in Oilers history to wear jersey number 90. With his extensive experience, including winning the Stanley Cup in 2007 and earning Olympic gold medals with Team Canada, Perry brings a wealth of skills and achievements to the team.
