The Edmonton Oilers may have lost their 16 game winning streak to the Vegas Golden Knights, but this is a team primed to make a big move ahead of the trade deadline as they chase the coveted Stanley Cup.

Connor McDavid hints at the Oilers next big move?

While the Oilers are clearly in play for the likes of Chris Tanev, Jake Guentzel and other big names, their captain may have accidentally revealed what their next big move will be.
«Small thing, but a big thing from Connor McDavid : during our 32 Thoughts podcast interview, talking about goaltending, he mentioned Stuart Skinner , Calvin Pickard and Jack Campbell . That did not go unnoticed. Campbell was on a heater at AHL Bakersfield a couple of weeks ago, but, as mentioned, the Oilers were in no rush to mess with what worked. It's a crazy world. A month ago, the idea of Ilya Samsonov leading Toronto seemed as far-fetched as Tracy Chapman showing up at the Grammys. It's very possible the Oilers will dabble in the goalie market, but you never know if you're going to need someone again.
Elliotte Friedman seems to hint here that Jack Campbell may be in play once again in the NHL for the Oilers, even if many had declared his NHL over a few months ago.

Goaltending help on the way for Edmonton?

While Calvin Pickard has been solid in his backup role, the Oilers have put plenty of money into bringing Campbell to Edmonton, and after a hot streak in the AHL, they'd love to see that translate to the NHL.
Ultimately, it's highly unlikely that they use major assets on goaltending, and if Stuart Skinner can hold up in net with either Campbell or Pickard behind him, it opens them up to chase a big name and eventually, a Stanley Cup.
