Leon Draisaitl is undoubtedly one of the best players in the league. In his decade with the Edmonton Oilers, this Art Ross trophy winner recorded a staggering 850 points in 719 games. Additionally, despite losing to the Florida Panthers in the recent Stanley Cup Finals, Draisaitl was the only player with at least ten goals and assists each in the 2023-24 playoffs.
While many still believe that an extension with Edmonton is inevitable, one reporter shared what he believed would guarantee Leon Draisaitl for the long haul. Jim Matheson posted that the forward would sign any deal with the Oilers worth at least $13 million.
Though this is only speculative, $13.5 million is a massive increase from his current $8.5 million AAV. Provided this salary boost and the mutual desire to remain together, this probably would settle the deal for Leon Draisaiatl. Whether or not the Edmonton Oilers find this worth it, it may be another year before we find out.
