We have our first goalie goal of the year scored by Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson against the St. Louis Blues.
In a moment that fans won't forget, Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson marked his name into NHL history by scoring an empty net goal against the St. Louis Blues. This rare feat happened late in the third period as the Blues pulled their goalie for an extra attacker leaving their net wide open. Gustavsson seized the opportunity & went for it.
With two assists from superstar Kirill Kaprizov & an unforgettable moment from goaltender Filip Gustavsson who scored the first goalie goal in franchise history, the short handed Minnesota Wild secured a crucial 4-1 road win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.
"I should be on the power play meetings now," he joked during post game interview with ESPN's Emily Kaplan.
Ryan Hartman opened the scoring with a power play goal in the first period & Jakub Lauko added a short handed goal in the second for the Wild. Marco Rossi chipped in with a goal in the third while Kirill Kaprizov contributed two assists in the win.
The Wild now have a three day break before their next game on Saturday against the Blue Jackets who they defeated 3-2 in last week's season opener in St. Paul.
