The highly anticipated game between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders has been quite the spectacle so far. Montreal welcomed back Patrick Roy back at the Bell Center and gave him a standing ovation but that will be overshadowed by a dirty hit and ejection from Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher.
Montreal Canadiens Forward Brendan Gallagher Gets Ejected And Faces Major Suspension Following Dirty Hit
Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher is likely to face a meeting with the NHL's Department of Player Safety after receiving a five-minute major and game misconduct for an elbow to the head of New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech during Thursday's game.
Brendan Gallagher received a 5-minute major and a game misconduct for this elbow to Adam Pelech.
The incident occurred in the third period when Gallagher elbowed Pelech in the head in the neutral zone, well after Pelech had passed the puck. Pelech had to be attended to by a trainer and skated to the locker room.
At the time of the hit, the Islanders were trailing 3-1, but they managed to score two goals on the ensuing power play, tying the game.
Gallagher, who has eight goals and eight assists in 48 games this season, may face disciplinary action for the dangerous hit.
How many games for Gallagher?
