The Montreal Canadiens have had a solid start to the 2023-24 season, but with no playoffs expected for the team this season, it appears they may be pivoting to some blockbuster trades.
Montreal Canadiens discuss trade of Jake Allen with a Canadian rival

After a disastrous start to their 2023-24 campaign, the Edmonton Oilers are in dire need of an upgrade at several positions, and according to Elliotte Friedman, they may have found yet another target.
"[The Oilers], they spoke to Montreal, who do not need a goalie in return, about the possibility of trading Jake Allen. [...]"

Another fantastic deal for the Canadiens incoming?
Given their cap space and rebuilding plan, the Canadiens have made some smart moves in recent times, like getting Sean Monahan and a first-round pick from Calgary as a salary dump, and with Edmonton desperate, this could be the time for them to strike.
-
In six games this year, Allen has a 3.35 GAA as well as a .909 save percentage, and with the lack of a genuine superstar being available, this could be a smart move for both parties.
