The Montreal Canadiens are off to a solid start in 2023-24, with a 3-2-1 record through their first six games, but with a good young core building, it appears Kent Hughes remains focused on the future of the organization.
Unsurprisingly then, it appears as though Montreal are looking to make some trades for their veteran pieces this year, and now after the latest report, that could come sooner, rather than later.
After showing off young goaltender Cayden Primeau against the Devils, many sources have speculated this is to increase his trade value and get a deal done, and given they have three goaltenders on the roster, something has to happen soon.
On top of that, the team are likely looking to make the logical move of trading veteran forward Joel Armia according to Elliotte Friedman, but with a cap hit of $3.4 million, it makes this rather difficult.
Regardless, it looks like Montreal are going to get some moves started early on the season, and with future assets in mind, they could once again be the most active team in the NHL at the trade deadline and even before.
