The Montreal Canadiens were aggressively holding their breath earlier after their franchise cornerstone went head-first into the Olympic boards.

Juraj Slafkovsky went down hard during Slovakia's chaotic quarterfinal clash with Germany this morning. He caught an awkward edge along the wall and violently crashed into the glass.
Montreal fans instantly lost their minds when he stayed down on the ice. The star forward was eventually able to drag himself to the bench with a massive ice pack wrapped around his neck.
Slafkovsky is a big piece for the Canadiens and that shows in his $7.6 million cap hit. But he easily earns his paycheck as the absolute engine of the Canadiens' rebuild.

Slaffkovsky avoids a scary injury

He calmly told reporters it wasn't the first time he hit his head, and it probably won't be the last.
That raw honesty proves he's perfectly built for the brutal, punishing grind of international hockey.
Slafkovsky has been a beast for Slovakia during the Olympics so far, carrying them to the semifinals, where they will likely match up against a powerhouse in Team Canada.
Sending your best forwards into international tournaments is a scary thought for general managers, and the incident today involving Slafkovsky proves why.
They risk their multimillion-dollar investments every single time these guys suit up for their countries. Slafkovsky is having a monstrous season with 45 points in 55 games for Montreal.
Thankfully he stated that he was okay after that scary collision, one that could have gone very bad for him.
Will he actually suit up for the medal rounds, or will the medical staff ruthlessly pull the plug?
