Earlier tonight, insider Frank Seravalli reported that the Oilers are close to finalizing a trade for a defenseman, which could happen before training camp. This move is crucial for the Oilers, who recently lost Cody Ceci to a trade and Philip Broberg to an offer sheet.

Jesse Courville-Lynch from The Mug on Instagram later revealed that the Oilers are interested in Fabbro and Tomasino from the Predators.

He confirmed that there is ongoing discussion between the two teams about a potential trade.

Fabbro and Tomasino, both former first-round picks by the Predators, are the rumored targets. Last season, Fabbro had 3 goals and 10 assists in 56 games, while Tomasino recorded 7 goals and 13 assists in 41 games.

Tomasino is currently a restricted free agent without a contract, making him a potential offer sheet target. Fabbro, with a $2.5 million cap hit, is entering the final year of his contract. If this trade happens, it could fill important gaps in the Oilers' lineup, strengthening their bid for the Stanley Cup.
