In breaking news, this veteran goaltender has retired from professional hockey after 15 years of play.
Cory Schneider Retires from Professional Hockey
Goaltender Cory Schneider has made the difficult decision to hang up the pads for good after 16 seasons in pro hockey, which included 410 games with three teams in the NHL.
The 37-year-old reflected on his decision in a recent interview and is at peace with it. Although he fielded some offers to continue playing in Europe, he ultimately decided that this was the best time for him to finish his playing career.
«I'm at peace with it, I'll miss my teammates and the intensity of playing, but it's the right time for me.
«If you had told me as a Marblehead High freshman that I'd play 16 years of professional hockey, I would've laughed in your face.»
