New York Rangers veteran Chris Kreider recently surprised fans by revealing his daily struggles with anxiety.

Hockey players are supposed to be tough. They're supposed to play through anything and everything. But there's sometimes stuff you can't necessarily see, stuff that's not physical. I've personally dealt with anxiety, and it's a common thing. When you're in it, you feel like you're on an island, going up and down. I don't think it was until the last few years where I realized how many people are experiencing it or have experienced it.
Kreider, a 12-year veteran known for his controversial moments in NHL games, sharing his mental health struggles shows that anxiety can affect anyone, no matter how tough they seem or how much money or fame they have.
#NYR players Chris Kreider, Jonathan Quick & Matt Rempe will be taking part in Shoulder Check Showcase charity event Thursday in Stamford, CT.

Here's the "powerful, touching" story behind it all, with stick taps to Dave Maloney & Rob Thorsen 👇
