New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba is facing a suspension after a dirty hit on Montreal Canadiens defenseman Justin Barron.
Jacob Trouba has long been known as one of the NHL's most controversial players & he has now cemented that reputation with a questionable hit against the Montreal Canadiens. During a game where the New York Rangers clearly outplayed the Canadiens things took an ugly turn when Trouba delivered a hard hit on defenseman Justin Barron.

The hit appeared dangerous right from the start and slow motion replays confirmed it. Trouba's elbow made direct contact with Barron's head sending him crashing to the ice in a frightening scene. Barron was helped off the ice after his head hit the ice twice in quick succession raising concerns for his safety.

Veteran defenseman Mike Matheson immediately stepped up for his teammate challenging Trouba to a fight. Matheson received a five minute penalty for fighting along with two minutes for instigating & a 10 minute game misconduct for his actions.

This isn't the first time Trouba's aggressive style has led to injuries. He has a history of delivering hits that change the course of a game & cause harm to opposing players. Many expect this incident will lead to a fine or suspension. While Trouba plays with an edge aiming to lead the Rangers to a Stanley Cup he often crosses the line leading to dangerous unnecessary hits like this one.
