However, the Leafs showed that they would not quit and they scored five unanswered goals in the third period to push overtime.
The Bluck Jackets ended up with the win, as Kent Johnson scored.
While this was a loss for the Leafs, getting the loser point and bringing the game to OT made it feel like a win, especially entering the third down 5-0.
Tavares Shows His Frustration
Following a Blue Jackets' goal, captain Tavares showed signs of frustration, shaking his head following a bad play by Ilya Samsonov.
Fans have been quick to point out how this behavior is unacceptable from Tavares, even though goaltender Ilya Samsonov let in a soft goal.
Hopefully, Tavares is able to turn his act around and step up as the Leafs leader as what he is currently doing is not cutting it. Coach Sheldon Keefe benched Tavares for overtime hopefully getting his message to the Captain.
