According to a recent report, the career of Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves is in major jeopardy.
The Career Of Ryan Reaves Is In Major Jeopardy
Ryan Reaves, nearing his 37th birthday, received a disappointing D- grade in the midseason report for the Toronto Maple Leafs from insider Jonas Siegel.
«The path to playing time feels even murkier now than before, what with the fourth line finding an identity with McMann in there alongside Gregor and Kämpf. The Rangers had similar issues with Reaves last season (they were filled in when he was out there) and eventually dealt him to Minnesota. Is there a market for him again with two more years left on his contract and his 37th birthday ahead later this week? Will he end up on waivers?»
Despite being on the injured reserve for over a month, Reaves has struggled, tallying just one goal in 21 games this season. With uncertainty about his playing time and the team's fourth line finding success without him, there's speculation about a potential trade or waivers upon his return.
General manager Brad Treliving also faced criticism in the report, receiving an overall grade of C. Reaves' initial signing was met with promise, but his on-ice performance has fallen short, making Siegel's assessment a significant setback for him in Toronto.
