Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo explains how Brendan Shanahan has failed the team.

It's hard to believe that Brendan Shanahan has been President of the Toronto Maple Leafs for nearly a decade. While the team has consistently made the playoffs under his leadership, they have struggled to take the next step, leaving fans wondering what's holding them back.
Former Leafs defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo recently voiced his criticism on the TSN "First Up" podcast, calling out Shanahan for his inability to improve the team's defense.
Colaiacovo's point is clear: the Leafs' defensive corps has been a weak spot for years, with little progress made. While the focus on the "core four" (John Tavares, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander) has strengthened the team's offense, it has come at the expense of their defensive game.
Leafs fans, what are your thoughts?
