The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't been their best as of late, and if they have any hope of salvaging a successful season, they will need to make a major addition ahead of the March 8 trade deadline.
According to one insider, we may not have to wait long to see Toronto make a blockbuster deal, as they are reportedly working on something big with a Western Conference team.
All season long, Toronto have been linked to Brad Treliving's former team the Calgary Flames, and with the comment mentioning an improvement on defense, that makes more and more sense.
With Chris Tanev, Noah Hanifin and potentially Jacob Markstrom all on the table, a rumoured blockbuster deal would almost certainly involve the Calgary Flames, who are looking to sell pieces that would be very useful to the 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs.
The asking price for all three players would seemingly be a first-round pick at minimum, and with New Jersey and others reportedly interested in some of the Flames pieces, a bidding war could lead to an incredible deal for the Flames and their ultimate trade partner.
