Veteran forward Max Pacioretty who just signed his new contract with the Leafs, took a shot at his former teams he played for.

Pacioretty, who has played over 900 NHL games and missed significant time in each of the last four seasons, is looking to extend his career in Toronto. He's been impressed by the group he's been practicing with and made some notable comments.
Having battled against the Leafs' core group for years while playing for the Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, and Washington Capitals, Pacioretty praised his new teammates. He called this Maple Leafs group the hardest working team he's ever been a part of while highlighting the work ethic of Auston Matthews, William Nylander & captain John Tavares who are all known for giving 100% on the ice.
Considering that both Pacioretty & the core players of the Leafs are seasoned veterans his praise carries weight. With his experience playing for five different teams Pacioretty's opinion about the Leafs work ethic is something fans should take notice of. While it's still early, and success can't be guaranteed, if a 35-year-old veteran feels energized and optimistic about this team, Leafs fans should be too.
Though it's a small sample size, this version of the Leafs feels different. Whether they're truly built for long-term success remains to be seen, but Pacioretty's excitement could be a promising sign.
