The Toronto Maple Leafs have built a strong roster for the 2024/25 season, but General Manager Brad Treliving might not be finished making moves yet.
Treliving has already made key additions to the team's defense, goaltending, and forward lines. However, according to insider David Pagnotta, two Maple Leafs players (Nick Robertson and Conor Timmins) are still potential trade candidates.
"They don't have a ton of cap space, they don't have much at all. They are looking at ways to create additional cap but also free up a little bit of roster space. Even with Robertson locked in on that 1-year contract, I'm told he's very much in play and Brad Treliving is having conversations about the possibility of moving him. Conor Timmins' name is out there as well... There are ways to alleviate a little bit of cap space.
Robertson, 22, has been part of trade rumors all summer. With his one-year contract, he may now be easier to move, making him an appealing option for rebuilding teams looking for young talent. As for Timmins, he's been pushed out of the lineup due to the addition of Chris Tanev, Jani Hakanpaa, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, so trading him could provide additional flexibility for the Leafs.
If Treliving finds the right trade partner, the Leafs could make another key move before the new season begins.
