Fans of the Vancouver Canucks have been treated to some special hockey so far this season. The team looks much better than even the most optimistic fans could have guess and all the team's top players are performing at career-best levels. Leading the way is the team's new captain, Quinn Hughes.
Hughes has been an unstoppable force this year. The blueliner was already one of the most consistent playmakers in the league last year but this year he's suddenly added an elite shot, making him one of the most dangerous offensive players in the entire league, not just among defensemen.
Hughes has been on a scorching heater, recording 14 points over his current eight-game point streak. Last season, a hot stretch for Hughes likely would have included 9 or 10 assists and maybe a goal. On this streak he has 4 goals and 10 assists. At this point he is certainly the Norris trophy favorite.
