This will be Sprong's sixth team in his 344-game NHL career. He has scored 85 goals and 159 points while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, and Seattle Kraken.

Sprong is coming off consecutive career-high seasons with Seattle and Detroit. The 27-year-old scored 21 goals in the 2022-23 season while averaging just over 11 minutes per game, earning him a $2 million contract with Detroit last season.
Drafted in the second round in 2015, Sprong became the fourth Dutch player to play in the NHL.
