It is currently unclear what, if anything, the Canucks will get in return from the Blackhawks. Speculation suggests it might be future considerations. This trade allows the Blackhawks to use their salary cap space to acquire depth players and a draft pick.
The Canucks seem to be preparing for major moves this offseason by clearing salary cap space before NHL Free Agency. Including a second-round pick indicates they have significant plans in mind.
