Winnipeg Jets fans won't be happy to hear that their star goalie, Connor Hellebuyck, is stepping away from hockey to deal with personal issues.

With only a few days before the regular season opener, the Jets held their final practice, but Hellebuyck was noticeably absent. This quickly became the top story for fans & media sparking rumors that he might be injured or unwell. However Ken Wiebe from the Winnipeg Free Press confirmed that Hellebuyck was not injured leaving everyone waiting for an official update.
After practice Jets head coach Scott Arniel explained that Hellebuyck is dealing with a personal family matter & needed a quick leave. The team expects him to be back & ready to travel to Edmonton for the season opener.
While details remain private both the Jets organization & fans have shown their support for Hellebuyck and his family. His presence will be missed on the ice, but everyone wants him to take care of himself during this time.
Though his absence caused concern, the team seems confident he'll return in top form soon. Best wishes to Hellebuyck and his family as they navigate this difficult time.
Meanwhile the Winnipeg Jets have made their final move of the preseason in order to become compliant for the start of the 2024-25 season by sending Elias Salomonsson to the Moose which now brings them down to the 23 man roster limit.
