ome major news came out of Ottawa in the last few minutes.

Senators Captain Tkachuk Almost Lost an Eye After High Stick

Ottawa's head coach, D.J. Smith, provided an update on the captain's health after he left the game following a high stick near the eye.
"D.J. Smith says the high stick that caught Brady Tkachuk hit just above his eye — so he avoided serious damage. (He did require stitches).

He'll miss a couple of days of practice and won't play vs WPG but should be fine to come back for pre-season games when the team hits the road."

Eye injuries are ruthless. Players who suffer from them often never come back from them.
Marc Staal was never the same after his major eye injury in 2013. Henry Boucha, one of the greatest Minnesota high school athletes, had only a short NHL career because of an eye injury. Ryan Suzuki dropped from a projected top five pick to the late first round after an eye injury.
Tkachuk will miss a few pre-season games, but should be back in time for the start of the regular season, which is good news for the Sens.
