The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered some disappointing news at practice losing one of their top line players due to injury.

Rookie Forward Matthew Knies Helped Off The Ice Due To Injury

A scary scene has emerged at Maple Leafs practice as rookie forward Matthew Knies who has been playing on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner had to be helped off the ice after suffering a bad injury.
Scary moment at practice as Matthew Knies is injured on a drill and can't put any weight on his leg. Helped to the dressing room.
Knies could be forced to miss Thursday's matchup against the Islanders. If the 21-year-old Knies can't play, it could mean a promotion for Tyler Bertuzzi, Max Domi or Calle Jarnkrok to a first-line role.
The 6-foot-3 rookie has eight goals and 15 points in 36 games this season.
Stay tuned for more updates.
