Sanni Hakala, the recipient of two Olympic bronze medals with Team Finland, suffered a serious injury when she went headfirst into the post early in a game in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) on Friday. She was promptly rushed to the hospital.
Regrettably, the outlook is grim for the 26-year-old, with reports indicating that she is unable to feel anything from the waist down.
This appears to be an entirely accidental incident, and no one is held responsible for the unfortunate outcome. Our thoughts are with Hakala, and we extend our heartfelt wishes for her recovery.
