Pierre-Edouard Bellemare has spent 10 seasons in the NHL as a reliable 4th-line player, and at 39 years old, he's eager to continue his career for at least one more year.
Originally from France, Bellemare played 11 seasons in his home country and Sweden before making his NHL debut at the age of 29. Although he was more of a scorer in Europe, his role in the NHL has primarily been as a defensive checker on the 4th line. He began his NHL journey with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he spent his first three seasons.
After leaving the Flyers, Bellemare went on to play for the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and most recently, the Seattle Kraken. In the 2023-24 season with the Kraken, he appeared in just 40 games, scoring four goals and tallying seven points. His limited playtime was due to a leg injury and being a healthy scratch on several occasions.
Bellemare has played 700 NHL games, during which he has scored 64 goals and accumulated 138 points, along with a solid plus/minus rating of +22, highlighting his defensive reliability. He has surpassed the 20-point mark twice in his NHL career.
Currently training in Sweden as an unrestricted free agent (UFA), Bellemare is hopeful that an NHL team will offer him a contract for the upcoming season. If no NHL opportunities arise, he may consider finishing his professional career in Sweden or possibly returning to play in France.
