According to RMNB, Evgeny Kuznetsov has requested a trade from the Washington Capitals due to continued friction between himself and the team over the past two seasons. Last season, the organization explored trading Kuznetsov, which resulted in a strained relationship between him and the team.
Kuznetsov's role on the Capitals has decreased in recent years, partly due to the arrival of Dylan Strome and Kuznetsov's reduced offensive output. In the current season, Kuznetsov has only scored 12 goals and has a -18 rating in 72 games played. Although he has three years remaining on his contract, which pays him $7.8M annually and includes a no-trade clause for 15 teams, the Capitals are reportedly open to trading him to accelerate their rebuilding process.
However, there is a potential issue with trading Kuznetsov, as he is good friends with Alexander Ovechkin and has great chemistry with him on the ice. As the team aims to keep Ovechkin happy, they will need to carefully consider any trade involving Kuznetsov to ensure it doesn't negatively impact their star player.
