In a recent Swedish National League game, former NHL player Martin Frk sparked major controversy. The play first started when he missed a hit that landed him headfirst in his own bench. He then apparently intentionally kicked his opponent in the chest/neck area.
After the recent tragic incident involving Adam Johnson, there is alot of sensitivity to player safety especially with skate blade incidents. Fortunately, no severe injuries resulted from this play.
Frk faced immediate consequences as he was ejected from the game. Regardless of intent or not the decision to remove him from the game was the appropriate one. This emphasizes the importance of maintaining control over your skates, especially in intense moments.
