The 2022 National Hockey League Entry Draft was a highly anticipated event, but it ultimately became a subject of controversy. The Montreal Canadiens, who held the first overall pick, surprised many when they passed on Shane Wright, the projected top pick and a highly-touted center from the Kingston Frontenacs. Instead, they opted for Juraj Slafkovsky, a towering winger from Slovakia. The decision was met with mixed reactions, as many believed the Canadiens needed a second line center more urgently than a winger.
Unfortunately, Slafkovsky failed to meet the expectations set for him, tallying only four goals and ten points in 39 games. His lackluster performance left many fans and analysts questioning the Canadiens' decision to select him over Wright.
In light of Slafkovsky's struggles, Jason Bukala, a respected writer for Sportsnet, recently conducted a re-draft for the 2022 Entry Draft. In his revised version of the draft, the top ten picks underwent significant changes, reflecting the unpredictable nature of the NHL Entry Draft.
